Excellent Marathon Debut for Dan.

As you may have read, I have worked with Dan many times before. Back in April Dan set a fantastic new half marathon pb. This gave him really good confidence as we continued to train for his first ever marathon up in Edinburgh on May the 29th 2022.

Come the morning of the race it was over cast and the weather was about as good as we could hope for. During the race there was unfortunately about a 1 hour period where the sun broke through the clouds and it did get uncomfortably hot. Dan is not a fan of the heat and he really found this period of the race energy sapping. But as I always expect from Dan, he hung in there and kept driving on. The last 6 miles of the race were a tough slog, but he eventually came home with an excellent debut marathon time of 3 hours 53 mins and 58 seconds! Plenty of athletes struggle to ever sub 4 so to do it on his first ever marathon is an excellent achievement, well done Dan! As always I really enjoyed working with Dan and hopefully we can catch up again at this winters cross country league.
